Port Lincoln football teams return to training

Training is resuming for most grades in the Port Lincoln Football League from May 18 with starting dates for under 13 and below grades to be considered at a later date.

The SANFL has received state government approval for a structured return to football training for SANFL and community football with players to train in groups of no more than 10 from May 18.

The league has decided, following feedback from clubs that training will be permitted for league, reserve, under 17 and under 15 grades, so long as clubs and participants adhere to government, SANFL and PLFL requirements.

Training for under 13, under 11 and under 9 grades is not currently permitted but a start date will be considered at a later date.

Football operations manager Quinn Dutschke said clubs were returning to training based on protocols and what clubs could achieve in a viable and safe way.

The return to training falls under Stage Two of the Return to Play Roadmap which permits non-contact training.

Under restrictions players cannot access change room or gym facilities, any equipment used must be sanitised before and after use and players must arrive dressed and ready to train.
