Port Lincoln Times Flashback Friday: 2003 | GALLERY

As the weekend begins here is the weekly look back at photos that featured in past issues of the Port Lincoln Times.

For this week's 'Flashback Friday' gallery, we are going back 17 years to see who featured in the pages of the Port Lincoln Times throughout January, 2003.

Can you recognise anyone in this week's gallery?

John Howard was Australian Prime Minister and Simon Crean started the year as opposition leader, but by the end of the year he would resign and was replaced by Mark Latham.

In sport Brisbane became the first team since Melbourne in the 1950s to win three-straight premierships after defeating Collingwood by 50-points, while Australia hosted the Rugby World Cup but it would be heartbreak for the home nation as England would defeat Australia in the final 20-17 after a late field goal from Jonny Wilkinson.

The top single on the ARIA charts in 2003 was 'Angels Brought Me Here' by Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian, other top charting songs were 'Lose Yourself' by Eminem, 'Where Is The Love' by the Black Eyed Peas and 'Born To Try' by Delta Goodrem.
