Salmon on run for anglers

Here's what was biting and where are the coast:

West Coast

King George whiting were reported being caught from land based locations around Elliston.

Salmon fishing proved worth while for those willing to spend some time to find deep gutters, with fish size averaging between two and three kilograms.

Coffin Bay

Gunyah Beach had mixed reports with some anglers doing well, while others missed out altogether.

Most fish were caught early in the day, and not necessarily in schools.

Almonta and Golden Island had similar reports, however fish were alleged to be in the four kilogram range, biting best on metal lures.

King George whiting reports had slowed slightly, with fish numbers lacking from both inside the bay, along with the Farm Beach area.

Some persistent land based anglers managed to snag some decent flathead whilst using soft plastics from inside Coffin Bay.

Port Lincoln

King George whiting was on the bite well from land-based anglers fishing Axel Stenross boat ramp, through to some decent numbers reported by boaties late in the day along the North Shore.

The North Shore also proved an excellent location to try for squid and some decent garfish.

Salmon were a worthwhile target with some good numbers of decent sized fish reported.

Best results came from anglers fishing salmon hole through to Wisemans Beach, with "bulk" fish reported in the three kilogram range, complemented by plenty of mullet and tommies.

Taylors Lumps and Thistle Island had some cracker King George whiting reported late in the day and into the night.

Fishing in the same areas proved slow during the day. Some big squid were also caught from Donington to Taylors.

Yellowfin whiting were on the bite along North Shields beach, with worms being the best of baits.

The town jetty fished well on a range of species including squid, tommies, salmon, and kingfish.

The runout tide returned the best results.

Tumby Bay

Big squid were reported by boaties in the bay, with whiting numbers lacking unless fishing deeper water around the Group.

Garfish were reported coming from the jetty.

Port Neill/Arno Bay

Port Neill jetty had reports of excellent numbers of garfish, and some big squid.

Arno Bay through to Cowell fished well for yellowfin whiting.
