Port Lincoln's Hagen Zerk earned some success in his Ford XA GT Falcon at the weekend, finishing second overall in the Combined Sedans class at Tailem Bend.

It was a big weekend of racing at The Bend Motorsport Park with the Repco SuperSprint taking place across Saturday and Sunday.

Mr Zerk raced in the Combined Sedans which saw a field of 36 entrants in vehicles including saloon cars, HQ Holdens and improved production cars.

Despite starting on the grid in 18th for the first race on Saturday after qualifying, had a great race to take the win at a time of 22:17.6, finishing about one and a half seconds ahead of fellow SA racer Adam Poole in his Holden Monaro.

In the following two races on Sunday Mr Zerk would end up finishing third in race two behind Mr Poole and Matt Wright and then came fourth in the final race behind Mr Poole, Mr Wright and Andrew Bailey.

However with three top four finishes, Mr Zerk would finish second overall behind Mr Poole.

Mr Zerk said if he had newer tyres on the car there was a chance he could have finished higher in the second and third races, however he was really happy to have finished second overall.

"To get a win and second overall, I'm pretty happy with that," he said.

"It was awesome to be there with the V8 Supercars and to have race three featured on Fox Sports and Kayo was great."

Zerk was accompanied by his race team of son Jett Zerk and friend Anthony Piantedosi for the weekend.

He said he had entered the Combined Sedans once before, at Bathurst in 2015.

As for future plans Zerk said he planned to travel to Mount Gambier for the Legends of the Lake Hillclimb between October 30 and November 1.

He said he also received plenty of positive feedback on his racing.

"A lot of officials and drivers were keen for us to come back and join them for more circuit racing," he said.
