Parental Alienation Awareness Day is on October 12.
If you have never gone through this or know of anyone that has, you would not know that this is another horrendous form of child abuse.

I have taken a few paragraphs from the fact sheet from What Is Parental Alienation by Eeny Meeny Miney Mo Foundation.
"Parental alienation is the outcome of a process of one parent (the alienating parent) influencing a child (alienated or targeted child) to turn against and reject their other parent (alienated or targeted parent) without justification.
"Parental alienation can occur even when the relationship was once a positive one.
"It occurs when a child is forced to choose one parent's side over the other after family separation and during parenting disputes.
"Children have a right to be raised in loving and nurturing families. They should be free to have a relationship with both parents and their wider extended family. "

Energy potential on Eyre Peninsula
The Eyre Peninsula has huge potential and this region is one of Australia's special places.
It was good to read about the $1 million funding to support sustainable agriculture (Funding to assist Eyre Peninsula farmers, October 3).
Ross Garnaut has recognised the peninsula for its renewable energy and related industry potential.
In its 2020 report, AEMO's analysis shows that the transmission costs for the proposed Eastern Eyre Peninsula wind farm are less than many other wind farms and far less than almost all solar farm proposals.
It is time to revisit the project and the state government should be putting more pressure on the network's owner, ElectraNet.

Helping to meet needs of students
I have been in the enjoyable and highly-rewarding teaching profession for 38 years. It is something that I chose to do, knowing full well that it would require out-of-hours work - marking, planning, making resources, reading.
During this time, the education department has always provided the basic essentials to enable valuable learning opportunities and experiences for my students.
However, on many occasions over this time, through personal choice, to enhance my students' learning, I have willingly purchased extra resources and materials out of my own pocket.

The department has always met the needs of my students while I have met my "wants" for them.

More women on boats
Why don't girls work on prawn boats in South Australia and Port Lincoln?
Women work on prawn boats in the gulf of Queensland. I can do everything a guy can do on a boat and more.

COMMUNITY CORNER
Southern Eyre Birds
Our Southern Eyre Birds AGM will be on Wednesday, October 14 in the Senior Citizens Clubrooms at 7.30pm.
The club is always keen to see new office-bearers and committee members, so perhaps there are those who would be happy to put their hands up.
COVID-19 regulations still stand of course.
We look forward to our special guest Michael Aird present his photographs then. All welcome.
