Port Lincoln Times Flashback Friday: 1976 | GALLERY

Begin the weekend with a flashback with the weekly Flashback Friday gallery which shines a spotlight on the faces that made the news in years gone by.

This week we go back 44 years to see who were the faces that made the news throughout June, 1976.

This was the year the movie 'Storm Boy' was released, based on the book by Colin Thiele.

In the VFL Hawthorn avenged their loss the previous year to North Melbourne, defeating the reigning premiers by 30 points to win the premiership, which was dedicated to former captain Peter Crimmins who passed away from cancer three days later.

Some of the biggest songs of 1976 included 'Fernando' by ABBA, 'Bohemian Rhapsody' by Queen, 'Howzat' by Sherbet and 'I Hate the Music' by John Paul Young, who can be seen in this week's gallery.
