Class galloper Dexter You Devil looks well placed to defend his title when he lines up in the $52,250 Port Lincoln Cup at Ravendale racecourse on Friday.

A proven performer at metropolitan level the locally owned six-year-old will only have to carry half a kilogram more than he did when he defeated Bramfield last year.

Jockey Shayne Cahill will drop back from the wide draw and let him work through his gears late in the race.

Analytica looks the main danger, he will have derived benefit from his first look at the track in the Prelude and former local trainer Travis Doudle will have him peaking third-up here.

Most of the local form comes from a blanket finish in the Cup Prelude which gives the impression the locals might be an even lot and it will come down to luck in running.

Bramfield was well supported in betting that day and put in a nice Cup trial closing off well to finish fourth. She can upset her more fancied opponents.

Witch Kid, Lady Conquistador and Paulo Pace are others to consider. Tips: 1-2-4-5

Race 1 - Maiden 1210m

Darren Magro has a good strike-rate when he ventures over this way and you can expect Alphaeus to find the front and be hard to hold off.

Confinement is bursting to win and gets another great opportunity here. Tips: 1-8-9

Race 2 - 2 and 3YO BM60 1210m

Riverside Rock has been racing well since joining the Jackie Stoetzer yard and will make his own luck on speed.

Betta Eddie gets a 1.5kg turnaround in the weights on Riverside Rock on a narrow defeat last start. He can turn the tables. Tips: 1-2-5

Race 3 - BM54 1000m

Secret Charge was good at Balaklava from the back, gets buried away the rails here and will need luck.

Heavens Flight looks the leader and can give a sight from the good gate while Serious Moonlight is hard to follow but capable of an upset. Tips: 2-7-9

Race 4 - Flying 1210m

The return of Irish Mint certainly adds some interest to the Cup Day Sprint having won four of his five starts at this track.

The sprightly seven-year-old will have to stalk speedy mare Ruby's Reward in the run and attempt to pick her off late.

Rubys Reward returned home in great fashion last start, the extra trip will test her but be assured she will give you a good sight. Tips: 1-6-3

Race 5 - BM62 1390m

The Shylie Williams trained Swing It Sister maps to get a good run behind the speed and looks a solid each-way play.

Chuckles is another to consider in what will be a competitive betting race. Tips: 8-7-1

Race 6 - BM62 1390m

Artful Ambition has been a model of consistency for Julie Branford this season and deserves another win.

Prepared to forgive Kingosn for his failure in the Prelude, this event looks much more to his liking and gets all the favours drawn the rails. Tips: 2-1-5.

Race 8 - BM 58 1210m

Centrefield was ultra impressive for Rocky King leading throughout last start and is the best bet of the day.

There looks to be plenty in the tank with this lightly raced mare. Bottle And Bird is capable if she pings the lids. Tips: 5-11-1

Race 9 - BM62 1750m

If the real Bajan turns up he will smack these. Forget the Prelude run where he had no luck all he needs is clean air.

Diamonds Are isn't hopeless, he is a KI Cup winner and capable on his day. Tips: 1-2-7
