Port Lincoln summer tennis season closes with men's final

Port Lincoln Tennis Association completed the summer season with the final of Men's Monday Night tennis.

In a fantastic night for tennis the players enjoyed the barbecue that followed the finals action.

Thanks to all our sponsors that have supported this competition throughout the season.

GPK Accounting 5 sets 36 games def Eyre Eye Centre 1 set 24 games

These two teams have been the front runners of the competition all season with GPK Accounting undefeated leading into the final.

They got off to a great start with Gary Hetzel and Boyd McCurry getting the first set on the board for their team.

Nathan Beljon and Andrew McCouaig had to step up their game when it got tight winning 75 to give their team a two set lead.

In the second round Eyre Eye Centre, through the efforts of Andrew Cabot and Danyon Nisbet who played an exceptional match, got their first set on the board.

McCurry and McCouaig continued to rack up the sets which meant their opponents would have to win the remaining sets to have any hope.

In the final round the top set would prove to be a sizzler with the match coming down to a tiebreak with Beljon and McCurry taking out the set and in doing so giving GPK Accountants the premiership.
