Western Zone Junior Advisory Council has recognised one of the region's great contributors to junior sport as its newest life member.

At the Norwood Cup carnival on June 13 Andrew 'Legs' Taheny was named as the newest life member in recognition of his years of service to junior football.

Mr Taheny was presented with his life member badge by council chairperson and fellow life member Glenn 'Spog' Dunn following the Norwood Cup matches on Sunday.

His other roles has included under 17 Youth Championships coach and assistant coach for Eyre Peninsula, and Port Adelaide Academy coach.

Mr Taheny said it was an honour to be recognised in the same company of many other Western Zone life members.

"Thanks must also be extended to the Port Adelaide and Norwood football clubs for the opportunity to help with the development of Eyre Peninsula talent over the past 20 years."
