Hawks win exciting contest against Magpies | PHOTOS

West Coast added to their Western Eyre A grade netball winning run in dramatic circumstances against Thevenard on Saturday.

The match at Streaky Bay went down to the wire as the league leaders came away with a 38-37 victory.

In a match pitting first against third, the Hawks were seeking to win a sixth successive clash, while the Magpies were unbeaten in four heading into the contest.

The netball was fast and ferocious, with both sides going for it and defences doing well to keep things tight.

With little to separate the teams throughout it was the Hawks who were smiling at full-time after a one-goal win.

Elsewhere, it was also close between Western United and Wirrulla at Penong as the Bombers went home with a victory by six goals.

Wirrulla kept pace with the league leaders thanks to their 41-35 result, leaving the Tigers in danger of missing the finals - now six points adrift with only eight points on offer.

The Bombers had just enough to get past the dogged home side and hit back following their loss to the Hawks before the break which saw them fall to second spot.

Meanwhile, Koonibba are out of the running for the finals after losing to Ceduna Blues United at the Far West Aboriginal Sporting Complex.

The Blues came away with a win by 27 goals as it ended 58-31.

The winless Roosters cannot climb into the top four, while Ceduna Blues United are well positioned, thanks also to Western United's defeat.

In the B grade, West Coast enjoyed a comfortable win by 55 goals against Thevenard.

In the battle of the unbeaten league leaders against the bottom-placed Magpies, the Hawks were never troubled in recording a 74-19 result.

The closest match of the round saw Wirrulla defeat Western United by only two goals.

The 54-52 result allowed the Bombers to pull four points clear of the Tigers in third position.

Meanwhile, Ceduna Blues United got the better of Koonibba by 22 goals.

The Blues remain second on the ladder thanks to their 56-34 victory.
