Frantically driving to the nearest hospital or dental clinic for a dental concern and/or issue can now be considered a thing of the past, thanks to Eyre Dental and Ceduna Dental's local delivery partnership with the Australian Dental Foundation.
Pain does not have a schedule and in remote communities it is considerably harder to access a dentist quickly and easily.
In these challenging times, Eyre Dental and Ceduna Dental offer the Eyre Peninsula a tele-dentistry appointment option - saving you time, worry and money.
Country SA PHN has provided support to enable the Australian Dental Foundation to deliver a pilot tele-dentistry project.
By utilising this option, an after-hours trip to the local hospital or GP clinic due to a dental issue may no longer be clinically necessary for regional communities.
"The rapid rise of telehealth, in general, has been one of the innovations, due to COVD-19 restrictions, that has proved to be a real benefit for rural and remote South Australians," said Country SA PHN CEO, Kim Hosking.
"Country SA PHN is pleased to be able to extend this technology to offering tele-dentistry for Eyre Peninsula communities."
Such consults will be delivered via an online video chat application, between the patient, guardian/carer (if required) and an Australian registered dentist.
Tele-dentistry is intended to address a particular dental problem, but not to replace a full dental examination.
There is only a small fee associated with the cost of tele-dentistry given it is not yet funded by Medicare.
However, this cost is greatly reduced as part of this pilot project through the generous funding support of Country SA PHN.
To request a tele-dentistry consultation, please contact Ceduna Dental on (08) 8626 2134 or Eyre Dental on (08) 7625 3840 or the after-hours emergency line on 0437 733 350.
