Port Neill home destroyed by fire

A house at Port Neill was severely damaged by a fire on Tuesday.

Country Fire Service (CFS) crews were alerted to a fire at a rural residence on Norton Road just after 12pm, with three CFS trucks, a bulk water carrier and 15 firefighters responding to the call.

Upon arrival at the property they found the house fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters assisted the property owner in removing some belongings, however the entire dwelling was damaged.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, while the damage bill is estimated to be $600,000.

The CFS said the fire started in the roof cavity.

Fire cause investigators will attend the scene later today as the cause of the blaze is still unknown.
