Nearly 300 entries into Port Lincoln flower show

The Port Lincoln Agricultural and Horticultural Society recently held a Spring Indoor Flower and Orchid Show on September 5. The event was a huge success with 20 exhibitors entering 290 entries.

The pavilion was a sea of colour with excellent showing of spring flowers. Four sections were contested; cut flowers, floral arrangements, pot plants and orchids.

The entries received were doubled the entries received at a "normal" show and the committee were very pleased with the result.

Champion exhibits were: Kym Riddle (orchids), John Post (floral arrangements and cut flowers) and Eva Murphy (junior exhibits).

Cherie Harry won most points for orchids ahead of Peter Hughes while Pam Morrison finished on top in floral arrangements ahead of John Post, who did have most points for cut flowers with Mr Hughes again runner up.

Finally, Pam Morrison won most points for pot plants with Heather Paynter runner up.
