We are taking a big leap back 60 years for this week's Flashback Friday to look at the people who made the news in the Port Lincoln Times.
For this week's gallery we feature images that featured in editions of the Port Lincoln Times throughout September and October, 1961.
Can you recognise anyone featured in this week's gallery? A parent? A grandparent? Maybe even a local identity?
Featured in this week's gallery includes Australian rock legend Johnny O'Keefe, who had a top 10 single in 1961 with 'I'm Counting On You'.
Other top singles of 1961 included 'I'm Gonna Knock on Your Door' by Eddie Hodges, 'Runaway' by Del Shannon and 'Wooden Heart' by Elvis Presley.
Also featured in this week's gallery is a match between SANFL team West Torrens against a Lower Eyre Peninsula representative team, in a game where George Burgoyne kicked eight goals.
Other football results of the year saw Hawthorn win their first ever VFL/AFL premiership, defeating Footscray (now Western Bulldogs) by 43 points. The Bulldogs would not appear in another grand final until 2016.
In the SANFL Grand Final West Adelaide defeated Norwood by 36 points in a match played in 35 degree weather and since being dubbed the 'Turkish Bath Grand Final'.
NOTE: This gallery may contain images of deceased Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander persons and may cause distress to those communities.
