Police allege man assaults victim with metal pole

In another incident reported by local police this week, a local man has been arrested for a break in and assault that occurred on Tuesday in Port Lincoln.

At about 2.30pm on October 5, police patrols were called to Yardea Street after they received reports of a break-in.

Police have alleged that a man forced his way in and assaulted a 21-year-old man, by punching him, assaulting him with a metal pole, and threatening him with a home-made firearm.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.

Following police investigations Port Lincoln police arrested a 29-year-old local man with aggravated serious criminal trespass, assault and firearms offences.

A search of his house also located a pistol crossbow and other prohibited weapons.

He was refused bail and appeared in the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court. He has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on October 12.

Police have assured the community this is not a random incident and that the pair involved are known to each other.
