The Port Lincoln Ministers Association examined requirements to run the event for the expected large numbers on the foreshore, but ultimately decided the event was not feasible.

Ministers Association Chair Reverend Steve Weickardt said it was a difficult decision to cancel for the second year in a row.

"We hope that as conditions change in the next year that we will be in a position to safely run the carols in 2022," he said.

"The Carols on the Foreshore is one of the ways that the combined churches of Port Lincoln work together to serve our local community and raise funds for great causes including Tunarama quest entrants, local school workers and charities."

Each local church is planning to run smaller Christmas events at their own venues in the upcoming Christmas period. Details can be found through various outlets and churches.

The Ministers Association would like to thank all supporters, food vendors and the community for the support of the Carols in the past

"We look forward to once again getting together to celebrate the Christian festival of Christmas," they said.

"In particular, Community Bank Port Lincoln has been a strong supporter of the Carols and we look forward to this partnership continuing when the carols can resume."
