Kimba trio triumphs in Port Neill tournament

The Port Neill Bowling Club has hosted a successful men's triples tournament.

The picturesque green was filled with 14 teams from nine bowls' clubs - Port Lincoln, Kirton Point, Cummins, Tumby Bay, Kimba, Cowell, Cleve, Arno Bay and hosts Port Neill - competing in near ideal conditions.

Each team played four games of 10 ends under the guidance of Murray Mason as tournament director.

The deserved winners of the day, winning all four games, were the trio of John Grund, Phil Klingberg and skipper Des Bourke from Kimba.

The runners-up, winning three games, plus recording a drawn game and 44 shots, were Peter Allen and Dene Kimber from Tumby Bay and skipper Kym Shepherd from Port Neill.

In third position was the team of Darren Donaldson - a traveller from Brisbane - plus Tumby Bay duo John Rau and skipper Trevor Smith, who won three games in addition to a drawn game and 42 shots.

Quality Wool were the major sponsors of the day, with other sponsors being Elders Insurance and Quinn Transport, both from Cleve, plus Bridgestone Service Centre and Leader Distributors from Port Lincoln.

The club thanked those who catered for the day and all members who assisted.
