What began as creating treatments for her family's eczema, Paula Brown now makes 100kg of fabric softener a week at Little Brown Goose, her local business offering handmade bath and body products.

Formerly Serendipity Designs and Creations which offered handmade quilts and children's items at local markets, Ms Brown began offering candles, melts, and cold process soaps.

The business was re-branded to Bath Time Fun in 2017 and finally Little Brown Goose in December 2020 to allow for Ms Brown to create products and "joined our passion for both sewing and bath and body in one great space".

"Our children are eczema sufferers - this renewed my passion for creating products that we could all enjoy and use," she said.

"Lots of time and money has been invested in learning and creating products that your body and skin will love without having reactions."

But the recent presence of COVID in the community may cause trouble as Ms Brown was concerned about getting her hands on ingredients to make products.

"I was a online retailer before opening the shop so the local impact hasn't affected me too much, I have noticed less foot traffic though the door though, since it has started to get worse within the community," she said.

"My biggest concern at the moment is supply issues, with raw ingredients that are not available and haven't been for a few months now in Australia... if this doesn't change there will be several products we can no longer make."

The current best-seller that may be affected is the fabric softener as large portions are shipped to customers across the country.

"It was picked up by a mum's group on Facebook from some of my customers reviewing it and saying how good it was... From there, it went nuts," she said.

Other favourites include gift packs, artisan soaps and bath bombs.

Ms Brown has since added moisturisers, body scrubs, room sprays, bubble bars and candles which is all homemade in her shop on Liverpool Street.

The business is environmentally-friendly, with sustainable product ingredients and packaging always in mind.

"From biodegradable glitters, packaging to recyclable products, to make sure our impact is as little as possible," Ms Brown said.

"We are also very aware of our environmental impact, and make sure to source products that meet our goals and visions in this."
