Western Eyre tops inter association bowls

The last of the tri matches of inter association men's bowls was played at Cummins on Sunday, January 9.

Representative teams from Eastern Eyre, Western Eyre and Southern Eyre took part to decide the champion region.

Going into the final day, Southern Eyre were just five shots behind Western Eyre, however Western Eyre stood up to score 188 shots and again Mark Wrigley and his son Nick skippered their teams to wins in both games.

Southern Eyre scored 155 shots with Gary Schreiber winning both games and like Mark Wrigley, these two skippers led teams who were undefeated throughout the series.

Eastern Eyre scored 139 shots and tried the most players trying to find their best combination. Their win over Southern Eyre at Cummins will be something to build on for next year.

Congratulations to the Western Eyre association for their solid win. Thanks goes to the clubs across the region who staged events. As at the clubs before, Cummins were magnificent hosts.
